About Department
The department of Civil Engineering has been in existence since 2011, with 5 batches of students successfully generated for the nation development.The department is grown into a fully-fledged one with well-equipped seven labs of different streams. It is also involved in various consultancy services including Total station Surveying, Concrete sample testing, Sand Grading, SPT for various strata, Non Destructive Tests such as Rebound Hammer Test and Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test, etc.,
It has a team of dedicated 12 faculty members of various specializations including Structural Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Management, Construction Engineering and Management. The activities in the department are carried out to consort the global innovations, inventions, alternative resource development upgraded in the civil world for human mankind journey, which primarily includes Several Extension Activities, Certificate Courses, International conference and value added courses with active student participation through Clubs including Consumer Club, Defence Club, YRC,NSS and Youth Red Cross Society. As a milestone event, an International Conference on Smart Materials and Techniques for Sustainable development was conducted in the year 2019 with keynote speakers from various countries.
The students are trained to upgrade themselves, and the department is striving to mould them a better engineer for the society with the practical trainingafforded from reputed industries, through MoU with the Industries namely Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India),Coimbatore Centre, Builders’ Association of India, Coimbatore Centre, M/s.Sankar Associates, Coimbatore M/s.KEF KATERRA India Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore, M/s.Mithran Structures, Coimbatore, M/s.JASS Developers, Coimbatore and M/s.Archetype Design Services Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore and complete expert contribution from societies such as Indian Concrete Institute, Indian Geotechnical Society, The Institution of Engineers (India).Indian Society for Technical Education, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India),Coimbatore Centre, Builders’ Association of India, Coimbatore Centre, Indian Water Works Association, and Indian Plumping Association. The students are placed in various reputed firms including KEF INFRA, Bangalore, Archetype Design Services Private Limited, Coimbatore, Selvam Builders, Coimbatore, Paavai Infra Geotech, Coimbatore, Savvysoft Technologies, Jass Developers, Coimbatore, SAT Land Serveyors, Coimbatore, RDC Concrete (India) Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, etc.,

About ICI :
Dr.N.G.P Institute of Technology has inaugurated the ICI student chapter and institute membership in the year 2013. Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) is one of the leading professional bodies in India. Being a non-profit Organization, it is dedicated to the cause of Disseminating Knowledge on Concrete, to Promote Concrete Technology and Construction and to address the Research Needs of Concrete. From the year of inauguration the student chapter has organized many inter and intra college competitions and activities like seminars, workshops, conferences and guest lectures. Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology has inaugurated the IGS Student Chapter and Institute Membership in the year 2018.The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) aims at promoting co-operation amongst engineers and scientists for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Soil Dynamics, Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics, Snow and Ice Mechanics and allied fields and their practical applications. It provides a common forum for academicians, research workers, designers, construction engineers, equipment manufacturers and others interested in geotechnical activity.
Indian Green Building Council, Hyderabad
Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology has inaugurated the IGBC Student Chapter and Institute Membership in the year 2019.The The objective of IGBC Green New Buildings rating system is to facilitate a holistic approach to create environment friendly buildings, through architectural design, water efficiency, effective handling of waste, energy efficiency, sustainable buildings, and focus on occupant comfort & well-being. The rating system evaluates certain mandatory requirements & credit points using a prescriptive approach and others on a performancebased approach. The rating system is evolved so as to be comprehensive and at the same time user-friendly. The programmed is fundamentally designed to address national priorities and quality of life for occupants.
Some of the unique aspects addressed in this rating system are as follows:
- Recognition for architectural excellence through integrated design approach.
- Recognition for passive architectural features.
- Structural design optimization with regard to steel and cement. This is a developmental credit. Projects are encouraged to attempt this credit, so as to help IGBC in developing baselines for future use.
- Water use reduction for construction. This is also a developmental credit.
- Based on the feedback from green building proponents, use of certified green products will be encouraged. IGBC has launched a new initiative to certify green products to transform markets. Products would be evaluated right from extraction to disposal.
- Handholding from IGBC Counsellors will now be available for the projects.
- A site visit and audit is proposed before award of the rating.
- Projects are encouraged to report energy and water consumption data on an annual basis, to facilitate research in this area.
Indian Water Work Association, Mumbai
Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology has inaugurated the IWWA Student Chapter and Institute Membership in the year 2019. The Objective of IWWA is to stimulate and promote the development of Science, Technology, Economics, Environment, Ecology and Social Sciences in managing the Water; both fresh and waste water. Hi. I am V. Sahana Sree from Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology is one of the best colleges in Coimbatore providing excellent education for the students to make them as a skilled and efficient engineers.
Since I was very much interested to know about the technologies involved in the construction industry and to become an entrepreneur in the field of construction, I selected Civil Engineering. But then I didn't have an idea of which college to choose like I had in selecting my course. So, I was referred to this college by one of my relatives. Then, I visited the college once before joining . I was very much impressed with their infrastructure, learning environment and had all the facilities required for the students. And I decided to join in this college with the hope that it will be a right path to reach my destination.
I would say that my college days has given me many precious moments to be treasured in my life. My journey in this college wouldn't be possible without the support and encouragement of my teachers. Apart from academics, my department always takes an extra effort by providing us opportunities like software training, Industrial visits, In-plant training, mini projects, internships, etc. to develop our skills required to match the needs of industry. They also conducted many seminars, guest-lectures and conferences to gain knowledge on all the aspects and recent trends of Civil Engineering. All these made my learning experience very interesting and helped me to expose the best out of me. They also provided us with ample of job opportunities from many reputed companies like SMEC, Kef Kattera, Trikaal, CAD Technologies, etc. and I got placed as a Detailing Engineer in Trikaal Tech Enterprises Pvt Ltd.
After 4 years of college, it makes me feel that I have selected a right college and I am elated for being a part of it. I also thank for giving me an opportunity to share my views.

The IQAC has been formally inaugurated on 14th March 2014 and it monitors the internal quality aspects pertaining to academic, curricular and cocurricular activities for the welfare of the students within the existing academic and administrative systems.
With the rapidly changing scenario in industry and academia, the need for these two sectors to work in tandem is necessity for the present and more so for the future. IIPC was formed under the aegis of the AICTE, in 2011, to provide a platform for interaction between Industry and Institute.
The center for Teaching and learning inaugurated in January 2019, with the audio/ video recording facilities with an investment of cost Rs 13 Lakh. Center for teaching and learning offer professional development services for students and faculties, particularly to help them improve their careers plans. Also help to overcoming obstacles to effective teaching and learning often requires more than teachers and students can accomplish individually. Programs, workshops, courses, tutors and mentors are among the many resources we provide to help with educational pursuits at Dr.N.G.P. Institute of Technology.

MATHWORKS ACADEMY provides Campus-Wide access of the MATLAB software to use the latest versions of MATLAB and Simulink and other MathWorks products to support the course work and research for the benefit of faculty members and Student. The Institute deploys MATLAB and Simulink anywhere access for Students, Educators, and Researchers. The institute has signed an agreement with MathWorks that provides all of our students, educators, and researcher's campus-wide access to MATLAB, Simulink, and additional products. It has joined with more than 700 schools worldwide already using the MathWorks Campus-Wide License.
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established 'MHRD's Innovation Cell (MIC)' to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years.
