The department aims to inculcate profound knowledge and skills in the areas of Computer Hardware and Software developments. The students are taught basic computing science and current trends of advanced programming particularly on the latest technologies. The course offers in-depth knowledge on the various aspects of the computing arena. IT focuses on meeting the needs of the users within an organizational and societal context through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies.
The Department of Information Technology Inaugurated their Association XEMAC on 28th July 2010. Mr.Karthik Gunasekaran, HR, Vislove Technology, Coimbatore, was the Chief Guest.
As an initiative for carving the young minds, Dr. Pradeep kumar, CEO, Amphisoft Private ltd., Coimbatore. inaugurated XEMAC on 22nd July'11.
Faculty Development Programme - Organized
An eight-day Faculty Development Programme on Certificate in JAVA Programming was conducted from 17th to 24th July 2010. Mr.Venkatesh, Java Trainer, ICT Academy was the Chief Guest
The Department of Information Technology, organized a 5 days Faculty development Programme on "C# and .Net Framework", sponsored by Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore from 28/06/2011 to 02/07/2011. The coordinators of the programme were Dr.S.Mohan, HOD, Department of CSE, Dr.NGPIT and Mrs.V.Vani,HOD, Department of IT, Dr.NGPIT. The Faculty Development Programme was inaugurated by Dr.K.Baskaran, Associate Professor, Department of CSE&IT, Government College of Technolgy, Coimbatore. One of the trainers was Mrs.V.Vani, HOD, Dept of IT, Dr.NGPIT and the other trainer was Mr.TT. Jeyavelu, Technical Lead (.NET Technology), Equidriga Software Solutions. On the final day of the programme dated 02/07/2011, the valediction was organized and Dr.Chandrakumaramangalam, Director – Faculty Development Programme, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore
Faculty Orientation Programme
Dr. S. Mohan, Professor and Head– Department of CSE and Ms. M.Vani, Professor and Head – Department of IT organized two days Faculty orientation programme to enhance the ideas of faculty members and to help them guide the students in taking up their final year projects. In day one, Dr. Mohan directed the faculties in fabricating the projects. In day two, Ms. Vani, gave a lecture on preparing SRS. The informative session was held on 10th and 13th June'11.
Training Programme - Organized
A three-day, Placement Oriented Aptitude Training Programme was organized by the department for the students. Mr.Krishnaraj, Assistant Professor in Mathematics, Gobi Arts College, trained the students on 31st December 2010, & on 1st & 2nd January 2011.
A Placement Oriented Soft Skill Training Programme was organized by the department for the students on 6th January 2011. Mr.S.Manikandan,Faculty adviser,soft skills youth corp training consultancy, Pollachi gave the students training in some important skills.
